Long wait over Indian Armed forces to get high-tech US Armed Drones equipped with missiles

Preparations are going on to ensure that the deal for procuring for 30 Drones from the US-based General Atomics worth $ 3 billion be inked before the close of this financial year. The three services are expected to get 10+10+10 the MQ-9 Reaper or Predator-B High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) drones, which have already been approved by the US President Donald Trump’s administration. The US administration’s approval includes the sale of armed drones to India and will come equipped with missiles and other systems.

Uttarakhand’s First Heli Services under UDAN flagged off

Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) operationalized the first ever helicopter services from Dehradun’s Sahastradhara helipad to Gauchar, and Chinyalisaur under the Regional Connectivity Scheme Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (RCS-UDAN) of Government of India. Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat, Chief Minister of Uttrakhand and Shri Pradeep Singh Kharola, Secretary, MoCA. The inauguration of the heli routes in the Uttrakhand region is in line with the objective of the Ministry of Civil Aviation to enhance the aerial connectivity of the hilly areas in the country.

Cabinet approves dispensation to Alliance Air for enabling commencement of International flights between India and Sri Lanka

The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has granted ex-post facto dispensation to M/s. Alliance Air, a 100% subsidiary of Air India, to fly on international sectors between India and Sri Lanka.  A special dispensation is allowed for the interim period till M/s. Alliance Air deploys minimum of 20 Aircraft or 20% of total capacity, whichever is higher for domestic operations.

Voluntary Disclosure of information of non-Compliant Drones flying in India

In order to facilitate the identification of civil drones and drone operators, a one-time opportunity for voluntary disclosure of such drones and drone operators is now being provided by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA). The persons in possession of drones are required to submit the information to the government. Drones and Drones operators have to obtain Unique Identification Number (UIN), Unmanned Aircraft Operator Permit (UAOP) and other operational requirements as per the guidelines issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) which regulates the use of drones in the Indian Airspace.

Cabinet approves Signing of Protocol to amend the Air Services Agreement between India and Switzerland

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the signing of the Protocol to amend the Agreement between the Swiss Federal Council and the Government of India related to air services and to exchange Diplomatic Notes with Switzerland for bringing the amendments in the Air Services Agreement into force as per Article 17 thereof. The amendments in the Air Services Agreement between India and Switzerland will bring it in tune with the developments in the civil aviation sector.

30 Airports/Airstrips & 1 Water Aerodrome in North-Eastern Region up for Bidding under UDAN 4.0

With focus on connectivity of North eastern region, UDAN 4.0 scheme under the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has invited bids for 6 underserved and 24 unserved airports/airstrips in the North-East states of India. The ministry has also recognized 1 Water Aerodrome location that is up for bidding in the region. The efforts are constantly being undertaken to provide aerial connectivity to the region. The move will not only boost tourism but will also transform economic situation of the region. Under the UDAN 4.0 scheme, MoCA is also providing additional Viability Gap Funding (VGF) of around 25% to the airlines.

Air India Will Have To Cease Operations If Not Privatised: Aviation Minister

India’s state-run airline will have to cease operations if it is not privatised, the country’s junior minister for civil aviation said in parliament, in response to a lawmaker’s question on the subject. A group of officials, including home and finance ministers, is finalising the process of inviting bids from the private sector for the loss-making national carrier. The company has lucrative landing slots in India and across the world, but has been a burden on the exchequer for years. Officials are still deliberating over some details.
